Can you help?

This is an attempt to find whether there are still members of Adnams families living in Alverstoke and possibly descendents of Thomas Adnams my Gr. Gr. Grandfather born about 1771, if there are then hopefully I can find information about Thomas that I am searching for, that is, where was he born and can
anyone go back from 1771 to find his parents. The following is all I have.

Thomas Adnams I know was living and working as a mariner in Falmouth; he worked for a Package Shipping Company based in Falmouth. He was married in Falmouth to Mary Harvey on the 10th March 1798; they had a son born in Falmouth Thomas Harvey Adnams on the 19th May 1799.

Sometime in the early 1800s the family moved to Newport on the Isle of Wight and believe he worked as a carpenter possibly in the Ship Building trade, more children were born. There was Hannah 1805, Mary? 1806, Joseph 1808, George (my Gr. Grandfather) 1811. It must have been about 1811-1812 when they then moved to Alverstoke and a son William was born 1813.

Don’t know more about Hannah but I received info showing a Hannah on the 1841 Alverstoke census to be staying with a family VAUGHN also with her there is a Clarissa Adnams who I found on another Adnams branch not yet found to be related.

No information on Mary from the I.O.W. on the 1841 Gosport census I found a Mary married to John CAINS 1st January 1827 in Portsea and now living in Brandy Mount and staying with them was a Mary Adnams, widow, I believe she is the Mother of Mary and the widow of Thomas Adnams who died 1839.

Joseph was married to Esther DUCE 5th July 1847 in Alverstoke his profession then was a musician, I also know that he was a retired Army Pensioner and was working as a hospital nurse, and Esther was also a nurse at the Royal Naval Hospital in Haslar, no other information.

Gr. Grandfather George was in the Royal Navy and married Sarah Cristiana BUTLER 21st January 1847 in Brandy Mount, Gosport and was living at 1, Henry Street, Bingham Town, Nr. Gosport where they had three children, my Grandfather George born in Ireland 1851, Sarah in Gosport 1853 and Mary in Gosport 1856.

This is as far as I can go in Hampshire because sometime in the 1850s the family moved to Poplar in the East End of London, old George became a Greenwich Pensioner married again to Elizabeth from Devon.
The London branch has now grown into a very large family and if this does ring a bell to any Adnams in Alverstoke or anywhere I would be pleased to give them all information I have to date and hopefully they can help me.

Please Email Peter Adnams and we will forward your message on:
